Safety First!
Swimmers are not allowed to enter the water until instructed. Entry will be a cautious slide into the pool with both feet first.
Enter into the pool when it is clear of other swimmers. Do not jump in front of other swimmers or try to splash them.
During practice remain in your assigned lane until instructed to change lanes.
Share the lane - stay to the right side of the lane and allow swimmers on the return lap room.
Do not obstruct your lane. Stopping at either end or in the middle of the pool is not allowed unless there is an emergency.
Maintain the specified distance between you and the swimmer ahead of you. Depending on the number of swimmers this will range between 5-10 seconds.
If you have a severe cramp or emergency, exit the pool at the closest location and notify your coach.
Diving or using the blocks to enter the pool will be under coaches supervision and instruction only. Starts will be practiced at designated times.
Always dive from your assigned block and into your assigned lane when instructed by a coach.
Running on the deck is not permitted.
Keep your hands to yourself. Grabbing, touching, or splashing other swimmers, at any time, is annoying and disrupts practice.
There will be no horse play anywhere at the recreation complex or at away meets.
Treat your personal and team equipment with respect.
Glass containers, soft drinks, gum or food are not allowed on the pool deck. Swimmers are encouraged to bring a plastic water bottle to practice.
There is no arguing with, or negative comments about officials at swim meets. Your coach is probably aware of your issue and voicing a concern through the appropriate channel.
Treat opposing team swimmers with respect. Good sportsmanlike conduct is expected of all Riptide swimmers.
Following practice, remain in the immediate vicinity of the pool until your ride arrives. Leave with a parent, relative or guardian you know is responsible for your transporation.
Whether at a swim meet or practice, report any suspicious person(s) to your coach and parent immediately.
Conduct yourself appropriately. You reprsent Rockdale County, the Riptides Swim Team, and the sport of swimming. Please project a positive image.
Report all injuries to your coach.
Be safe, have a good time, and work hard!
